Esther Kirshenbaum's biography. |
Esther was born and raised in Michigan. She received her B.S. from the University of Michigan in 1972, completing study in pre-medicine. After traveling extensively throughout Asia and Southeast Asia during the 1970s, she completed graduate studies in biology, began teaching high school biology and tutoring University of Michigan athletes. While maintaining a keen interest in the sciences, by the late 70's Esther began primarily working and living as an artist. Esther exhibited art created in many different media in art fairs, galleries and shops. She spent several years living and working as an artist in New York City. Esther moved back to Ann Arbor in 1991, where she continued her art work. She was the director of the Michigan Guild Gallery for five years. Now, in addition to creating her own art and doing environmental advocacy work, she teaches printmaking, and is involved in a variety of community related art projects. This includes coordinating the art installation for the annual Ann Arbor Film Festival. See Esther's résumé. |
